V. Cementing Tools - k. Dual Wiper Plug
Drilling technology has pushed larger casing strings to be longer and set at greater depths than ever before. Reliable cementing is dependent upon the cement reaching its desired location with minimal contamination. Large diameter and long sub-sea casing strings and liners require extremely large displacment volumes which means more time for intermixing and contamination of the spacers, wellbore fluids, displacing fluids and cement. The Allamon Tool Company Dual Wiper Plug substantially increases cement slurry integrity by providing a barrier on each end of the cement slurry while the cement is pumped through the casing. The Dual Wiper Plug incorporates the use of two drill pipe darts which provide a protection barrier for the cement in the workstring while wiping the inside of the workstring, and then launching the appropriate casing wiper plug in the Dual Wiper Plug system. The components of the Dual Wiper Plug are mostly constructed of Allamon produced composite material which enhances plug reliability and drill-out. Recent Research and Development on the elastomeric wiping fins has lead an extreme reduction in the volume of elastomer required in the the new three fin design, thus considerably reducing the amount of material that must be drilled out.
